The Ritz-Carlton, Boston
A re-imaged stunner in the perfect spot
VERIFIED LUXURY
Here are five things to know about us:
1. We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
2. We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
3. Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
4. While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.
5. We started in1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.
Five-Star
These properties deliver an outstanding experience and consistently offer a highly customized level of service.
Four-Star
These are exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match.
Recommended
These are excellent properties with consistently good service and facilities.

The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common is literally surrounded by distractions (Boston Common park and Boston Theater District for two), but there’s so much going on inside its own walls that there’s a chance you may not even notice the commotion outside.
With a $13 million renovation project completed in July 2017, the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star property is proud to again show off 193 guest rooms that have been given a jolt of vibrancy by the Rockwell Group architecture firm, meeting spaces that are now outfitted with more tech toys than conventioners know what to do with and a Club Lounge that feels like it’s ready for its close-up in the next home decorating magazine.

Our Inspector's Highlights
-
The Rockwell Group chose to emote the soul of Boston with its aesthetic, using leather, wood and steel all about the walls and corridors. Move your gaze to the floor and you’ll notice fresh carpeting done in old-world damask patterns.
-
The Club Lounge may have gotten sleek new wooden tables and a nifty WineStation vino dispenser, but it hasn’t forgotten about the thoughtful service standards it’s come to be known for.
-
The mid-century-inspired Avery Bar, with its leather chairs and raised fireplace, is one of our favorite places in the city for an after-hours drink.
Things to Know
-
The 3,500-square-foot Ballroom now has fresh coats of silver and taupe and new wall sconces but, thankfully, it still offers that spectacular view of Boston Common.
-
The first-floor Artisan Bistro is a wise choice for a meal any time of day. At lunch, especially, the lobster roll and short rib sandwich are worthy of your attention.
-
Ritz-Carlton guests have access to the neighboring Equinox Sports Club, a full-service facility with basketball courts, boot camps and breathtaking views of the Theater District from the café.
Rooms
-
Of the 193 rooms, 43 of them are suites. Every suite has one and a half baths.
-
With pops of blue and gray, sleek lighting and retro-looking Tivoli Audio music systems, rooms have a modern feel while still somehow tipping their hat to the past.
-
Today’s traveler was kept at the forefront of thinking with the redesign. Outlets and USB ports can be conveniently found at your bedside, jutting from the workstation and at periodic spots around the settee. Smart mini fridges, bedside reading lights and Netflix-ready TVs only add to the millennial appeal.
