Harbor View Inn
Santa Barbara's beachfront luxe getaway
VERIFIED LUXURY
Here are five things to know about us:
1. We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
2. We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
3. Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
4. While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.
5. We started in1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.
Five-Star
These properties deliver an outstanding experience and consistently offer a highly customized level of service.
Four-Star

Our Inspector's Highlights
- Beachfront boutique hotel Harbor View Inn is situated on Cabrillo Boulevard — Santa Barbara's main beach drag — within the city's tourist hub.
- You’re only steps from State Street, which boasts a collection of shopping areas and a variety of restaurants; the Funk Zone, where you'll find downtown's Urban Wine Trail of tasting rooms; Santa Barbara's harbor; and, of course, the beach.
- Playing off Santa Barbara's classic Mediterranean, Spanish-influenced design style, Harbor View Inn’s vegetation-rich exterior evokes an adobe building, with a clay-tiled roof and brightly colored tiles.
Things to Know
- Harbor Inn’s heated pool is surrounded by palm trees and calls to mind a tropical spirit.
- The Jacuzzi offers splendid sunset views, perfect for a soak with your sweetheart.
- Guests can order room service or from the pool bar to enjoy nibbles and cocktails under the California sun.
- The hotel’s fitness center offers exercise equipment and is adults-only for a workout free of kiddie distractions.
The Rooms
- Harbor View Inn’s 115 rooms are divided among three buildings, composed of 102 standard rooms and 13 suites.
- Each of the rooms have private terraces or balconies. And while only some of the rooms have been given the "ocean view" distinction, many of the resort rooms actually have partial ocean views due to the strategic placement of windows and terraces.
- The style of the rooms is modern Spanish, with colorful accent walls, wood-beamed ceilings and travertine tiles that evoke Santa Barbara's cultural roots.
The Restaurants
- The only true restaurant is Eladio's Restaurant & Bar, which recently underwent a major renovation to its bar area for a sleeker style.
- Offering breakfast (brunch on Saturdays and Sundays), lunch and dinner, the establishment is known for its wide-ranging specialties like vanilla-dipped brioche French toast and its infamous beer-battered fish and chips.
- It also offers a robust happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m. daily and fountain-side seating on its expansive patio.
- Also onsite is State Street Coffee, where guests (and non-guests) can grab a cup of coffee and baked goods, as well as a pool bar, which is only open seasonally (and weather permitting).
