VERIFIED LUXURY
Here are five things to know about us:
1. We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
2. We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
3. Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
4. While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.
5. We started in1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.
Five-Star
These properties deliver an outstanding experience and consistently offer a highly customized level of service.
Four-Star
These are exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match.
Recommended
These are excellent properties with consistently good service and facilities.

Canoe is a stunning venue in which to experience creative, satisfying regional Canadian cuisine. While dazzling ingredients tend to be sourced from wonderful local producers, many organic, the kitchen borrows flavors and techniques from the world at large, including Asia, France and the American South.
The end product is inventive food and an equally original room. The five-course tasting menu is a rollercoaster of succulent flavors including tenderloin tartare, broiled Sablefish and caramelized honey crisp apple almond cake. The wine list is equally indulgent.

Things to Know
- The dress code at the luxury Financial District restaurant is business and smart casual. It’s not uncommon to see men wear jackets for dinner and women turned out in dresses and heels.
- You can even park gratis at the Toronto Dominion Underground Parking Facility Monday through Friday after 5:30 p.m.; parking there is complimentary all day on weekends.
- Canoe serves lunch on weekdays, while dinner service begins each evening at 5. The Financial District restaurant serves until 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Food
- The menu features global cuisine made with only the best Canadian ingredients. You might start with the Ontario burrata with squid ink lavash before diving into the rioni risotto with salt baked kohlrabi.
- For the most well rounded Canoe experience, opt for the seven-course tasting menu. Highlights include the stag tartare, creamed corn with chanterelle mushrooms and the Concord grape tart with La Sauvagine cheese mousse.
- A large selection of hearty delights is available at lunch here, too. Soups, salads, sandwiches and even braised Tamarack lamb are served up each afternoon.
- You’ll want to save room for dessert at this Financial District restaurant. From a flourless chocolate cake with mint mousse to a rhubarb cheesecake and a classic butter tart (complete with brown sugar praline cream), any sweet tooth will be satiated here.
The Drinks
- Seasonal cocktails are a highlight here, featuring the best of Canada’s bounty. In the summer, you might try the Triple R, a rosy-hued concoction of Creekside rose, raspberry juice, Tamarack Farms rhubarb shrub and soda.
- Alongside the seasonal sips are a handful of Canoe classics, with a twist. One of the more unique year-round offerings is the Dill Pickle—a blend of Beefeater gin, Grand Marnier, lemon, white cranberry juice and dill puree.
- The robust wine list heavily features Canadian vineyards. Most of the vintages offered by the glass hail from the Niagara Peninsula in Ontario.
