The Oriental Spa, Hong Kong

Hong Kong's holistic relaxation den
VERIFIED LUXURY
Editor's note: The Oriental Spa, Hong Kong is closed through 2025 for renovations.

The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong has one of the most holistic relaxation dens in town with The Oriental Spa. Besides fabulous treatments, there are plenty of yoga and Pilates classes held in studios dedicated to the practices.

Once you’ve worked out in one of the hourly sessions or in the fitness center, retreat to the spa’s lounges, equipped with pools complete with built-in, heated loungers, crystal steam rooms with mother-of-pearl benches, and huge rain showers. The relaxation rooms are dark and you can spend as long as you want in the quiet confines of the spa post-treatment (perfect for a jet-lag-zapping nap on your first long day in Hong Kong).

Traditional Asian therapies include the 60-minute Thai massage or the Chinese acupressure body massage, as well as Yin & Yang, for you to relish some quality time in the luxury of the private sanctuary suite, private steam sauna, and aroma bath, which will be followed by an Oriental Essence massage.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • The Oriental Spa uses high-performing products from international favorites like Natura Bisse and Aromatherapy Associates, ensuring a luxurious and effective experience.
  • There’s something universally soothing and comforting about a fresh scent at the beginning of a treatment, which is why all treatments at The Oriental Spa start with a bit of aromatherapy.
  • The treatments are also one-of-a-kind at the Hong Kong respite, such as the Moroccan rasul, which is designed just for women. Ladies can dive into this ancient healing ritual that involves a mud bath, an aromatic steam and a soothing rinse.
  • As for the men, they can jump into the Turkish hammam, a warm steam room. Both treatments are located in the respective locker rooms.
  • The calm-inducing facilities are a great space to relax before or after your treatment.
Things to Know
  • Consult with a therapist about your skin’s needs to ensure that you select the appropriate treatment.
  • Couples should request the Sanctuary Suite for the most intimate pampering experience, especially since the public lounges are separated by gender.
  • Unfortunately, The Oriental Spa does not have a salon. That said a few salon treatments can be scheduled in the beauty treatment rooms.
  • Come 60 minutes early to have enough time to unwind prior to your treatment.
The Treatments
  • A Mandarin Oriental signature, the Digital Wellness escape helps you unplug and unwind in style. The 90-minute restorative treatment focuses on the head, eyes, neck, shoulders, hands and feet to releive the stresses and strains the result from the daily use of digital devices.
  • During the aromatherapy massage, your skin will be treated with essential oils that combine layers of fragrances to create certain moods that will relax, calm and uplift you.
  • For the ultimate in skin rejuvenation, book the Perfect Ten Diamond facial. Luxe touches like an LED mask, 24-karat gold pulse bar, and a gold- and peptide-infused rubber mask will leave you looking visibly refreshed.
  • Sparkle like the lights of Central with the Hong Kong Shimmer body treatment. Enjoy a massage using oil infused with a natural glimmer followed by a facial featuring a Diamond Luminous Lightening Mask that will leave you glowing from head to toe.
The Facilities
  • The vanity areas feed into wet and dry spa facilities, including a vitality pool, steam room and laconium, as well as heated stone lounges.
  • At 18 meters long, the Five-Star spa actually has the longest indoor pool in Hong Kong’s Central District. It’s ideal for swimming laps, but because it is quite narrow and indoors, it’s not the place to just lounge around.
  • If it’s a relaxing dip you’re looking for, check out the vitality pool in the locker room. You can soak in the warm water with jets going until all your stresses are washed away.
  • The fitness facility includes a Pilates and yoga studio that has a regular class schedule and opportunities for private instruction.
