Jumeirah Saadiyat Island

Sustainable beachfront luxury in Abu Dhabi
VERIFIED LUXURY

Located in a quiet beachfront neighborhood just down the coast from the striking Louvre Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Saadiyat Island stands out among the UAE’s upscale properties for its focus on sustainability, sleek minimalist design, excellent dining and unbeatable views of the Arabian Gulf.

All of this comes together to promise a relaxing vacation in what feels like a hidden spot — home to mangroves and hawksbill turtles — and yet is surprisingly close to all the action (a 10-minute drive) in culture-rich Abu Dhabi.

A contemporary take on barefoot luxury is apparent in the property’s nature-inspired design and décor sensibilities; the lobby is crowned by a glass-blown chandelier that invites the ocean in and features the seven shades of blue you’d find along the coastline outside. Black-and-white photos, a nod to the history of Abu Dhabi, hang around the property, and every room affords breathtaking ocean vistas.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Jumeirah Saadiyat Island’s commitment to sustainability can be seen through various initiatives, such as providing every guest with a complimentary reusable water bottle that can be filled from water stations around the property. Plastic straws have also been eliminated.
  • Try a paddleboarding session or spot dolphins on a kayaking trip. Those who would rather stay dry can practice their swing on the tennis court or play a round on the greens at the adjacent Saadiyat Beach Golf Club.
  • Stay fit at the UAE’s first Bodysim Wellness Centre, a holistic gym and fitness program developed in London. The state-of-the-art fitness center offers group sessions and personal training, as well as a café for light, healthy bites and nutritious smoothies.
  • The unobstructed vistas and bright colors of the water at the luxury hotel are fantastic. A boardwalk leads from the pool area to the beach, where the resort’s sunbeds are just a couple of steps away from the waves.
  • Escape the Abu Dhabi sun with an indulgent treatment at Talise Spa. Highlights include an antioxidant-packed Citrus Essence Facial from top-notch skincare brand Natura Bissé, a Contouring Gold Wrap and traditional hammam services.

Things to Know

  • Plantable seed coasters are placed at the restaurants. You are encouraged to take them home, plant them and share photos on social media.
  • The Abu Dhabi hotel organizes plastic collection and beach clean-up activities and maintains the protected dunes along the beach where endangered hawksbill turtles nest.
  • With foosball and billiards for teens, arts and crafts for tots plus educational activities and supervised beach sports, the Kids Club provides plenty to keep the brood busy while you have some quiet time.
  • Cool off in three beachfront pools. Splash around with your tots in the kids’ pool, lounge by the bar at the lagoon pool or find some serenity at the adults-only swimming hole.

The Rooms

  • All 293 rooms and suites have either a private balcony or terrace overlooking the water. The property’s two Presidential Suites and four Saadiyat Suites on the top floor offer panoramic ocean vistas through floor-to-ceiling windows.
  • The modern rooms at the beachfront hotel are luxurious and tasteful with marble tabletops, rattan wall décor and wood furniture. A white, gray, and blue theme and breezy fabrics create a lovely ocean-inspired minimalistic design.
  • Starting at nearly 500 square feet, the rooms are spacious and feature beautiful bathrooms outfitted with sumptuous soaking tubs, separate walk-in showers and dual vanities.
  • Suites have nearly double the square footage with airy living rooms, walk-in wardrobes and either balconies gazing out over the ocean or terraces with beach or garden views.
  • Ranging from two to four bedrooms, eight spacious duplex villas are serene retreats equipped with private pools. Four of these also include in-villa spa treatment rooms for an extra-luxe touch.

The Restaurants

  • Sample Levantine and Emirati cuisine at beachfront restaurant Tean, where grilled meats and seafood dishes are specialties. Try Emirati rice and shrimp dish machboos robian or the samak bil tahina (fish baked in tahini), before ending on a sweet note with rose and pistachio crème brûlée.
  • Feast on sumptuous Italian cuisine overlooking the beach at poolside Mare Mare. Helmed by Italian chef de cuisine Simone Federico, the kitchen churns out flavorful Mediterranean dishes like smoked eggplant and goat cheese risotto, and squid ink tonnarelli pasta with seafood sauce.
  • Breakfast is served in the bright and contemporary White. With its geometric light fixtures, modern Arabesque details and high ceilings, the dining room is particularly Instagram-worthy.
  • Enjoy live guitar, sundowners and Asian-inspired tapas like soft-shell crab bao and chicken katsu sandwiches in The Lounge’s gorgeous rooftop. If you prefer an elegant afternoon tea, head for Majlis Saadiyat and savor a cup alongside views over the landscaped gardens.
  • Catch a soccer match at Offside Sports Lounge, where you can order a beer and pub food like Korean spicy wings, fish and chips, and the wagyu burger.
