What was once a 1941 military armory is now Kimpton Armory Hotel, an elevated retreat in downtown Bozeman. Rising nine stories above the city, the storied structure offers a rooftop pool, mountain views and lots of live music.
Designed by prominent local architect Fred Fielding Willson, it housed the Montana Army National Guard for six decades before undergoing a revival in 2020. About 98% of the original structure was retained, with its history embedded into the 122 rooms and suites and public spaces.
Fielding’s, the hotel’s all-day restaurant, takes a Montana approach to American cuisine, while Tune Up bar occupies the original band room and hosts live music several nights a week. Upstairs, find the glass-enclosed Sky Shed and a heated saltwater pool and rooftop lounge with vistas across four mountain ranges. Armory Music Hall adds another venue for concerts and events, giving the Bozeman hotel a strong connection to the local music scene.
