Walk through Hotel Charleston Santa Teresa and the building’s history unfolds around you: coral-stone walls, arched corridors, balconies and the quiet courtyards of a former Carmelite convent. Founded in 1609, the Santa Teresa cloister was later joined by a Republican-era building facing Plaza Santa Teresa, creating the two architectural chapters that make up the hotel.

Today, the 86 rooms and suites are spread between the Colonial Convent and Republican buildings, with some preserving the historic architecture and others taking a more contemporary approach. The courtyards bring greenery into the center of the property, while La Terraza rooftop rises above the Walled City with a pool and panoramic views. At ground level, Harry’s Cartagena occupies the Republican courtyard, where local ingredients meet international techniques.

Hotel Charleston Santa Teresa’s rooftop pool offers one of the best vantage points over Cartagena. From the top-floor terrace, views take in the Walled City, Caribbean, modern skyline and port, while La Terraza serves food and drinks poolside.
The central courtyard gives breakfast a distinctly local setting. Open-air seating, greenery and the surrounding architecture make it a natural place to linger over a Colombian brew and a bite before heading out for the day.

The Rooms

The Colonial Convent rooms retain the building's bones. High ceilings, arched doorways, exposed wooden beams and traditional shutter doors sit alongside polished wood furnishings, warm textiles and blue-and-white accents.
The Republican rooms let in more light through large windows and balconies. Wicker furnishings and tailored upholstery soften the clean-lined interiors.
