Six Senses Vana

An elevated wellness sanctuary in the Himalayan foothills
VERIFIED LUXURY
Six Senses Vana is an exclusive wellness estate in the Himalayan foothills, near Dehradun. Conceived by Esteva i Esteva Arquitectura, the 21-acre estate comprises low-slung, symmetrical pavilions seamlessly integrated into a sal woodland.

Stays are fully curated, encompassing seasonal cuisine, bespoke daily treatments, wellness programming, airport transfers and relaxed signature attire. Your visit begins with a private wellness consultation and diagnostic screening to map Ayurvedic doshas, followed by a personalized daily program of treatments, yoga and meditation, movement sessions, workshops and guided nutrition.

The culinary offerings are seasonal and therapeutic, anchored by an Ayurvedic specialty restaurant. There’s a variety of more intention-led programs on the menu, ranging from five-night sleep, detox, yoga and Tibetan medicine immersions to extended Ayurveda and Panchakarma journeys of up to 21 nights.

Customization can be cranked up even more with additional private therapies, including acupuncture, reflexology, alignment work and subtle energy treatments. For those seeking a deep dive into traditional Indian healing with the refinement of a private, ultra-modern sanctuary, Six Senses Vana sets the gold standard.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Geometry and symmetry form the keystones of Six Senses Vana’s architectural language. The meditative mood begins at Kila, the arrival pavilion, with a bamboo ceiling, ash-veneered screens and an oval water body. Tactile warmth permeates the property, expressed through natural materials such as rattan, mulberry bark, silkworm cocoon and sea kelp. More than 500 contemplative artworks by renowned local artist Siraj Saxena animate the open spaces with cultural depth.
  • Accommodations include 66 rooms, 16 suites and four stand-alone casas, each opening onto forest, garden or mango-orchard vistas. A neutral palette of beige, stone and timber creates a poised balance between luxury and ecology.
  • A lightweight cotton kurta and pajama serve as the retreat’s standard attire, creating a sense of ease and informality from arrival to departure.
  • From herbal infusions brewed with homegrown botanicals to thoughtfully prepared meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan dishes, nourishment at Six Senses Vana is a seamless extension of the healing journey. At Salana, chefs translate locally sourced ingredients into refined, seasonal àla carte menus. Anayu takes a more prescriptive approach, offering Indian-inspired Ayurvedic cuisine tailored to individual body types.
  • The weekly wellness program unfolds as an ensemble of practices that are restorative in the moment and practical for life beyond the resort. Each day moves in a balanced cadence of stillness and energy through yoga, meditation, Raag therapy, chanting and mindful movement. Beyond the mat, guests engage with the Alchemy Bar, apothecary workshops and intimate talks on healing sciences, including traditional Chinese medicine, natural alignment and reflexology.
