Camp Creek Inn

Towering pines on Florida’s Emerald Coast
VERIFIED LUXURY

A spot with the name “Camp Creek Inn” certainly exudes a level of remote coziness. That’s where the expected ends with this resort. Nestled less than two miles northwest of the luxurious Alys Beach on the Florida Panhandle, you feel miles away from the periodic Emerald Coast hustle and bustle at this wellness-driven gem.

Opened in 2023, the boutique hotel houses all 75 rooms in a three-story, estate-esque building with soaring windows, stately brick fireplaces and balconies upon balconies for taking in the multifaceted surroundings. Among those surroundings are a lazy river, two 7,000-square-foot zero-entry pools, an 18-hole golf course, a sports complex (which contains a pristinely kept wellness center, lap pool, hot tub and pro shop with golf, tennis and pickleball gear), bonfire spaces and pines throughout.

Once you enter its front doors, Camp Creek Inn radiates a calming vibe, with wooden tones, light cream touches and select exposed-brick elements. It’s a welcoming place to retire to after a day of golf, pickleball or swimming.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • There are approximately one dozen different room options with golf course and/or driving range views. The Pine Suite is Camp Creek Inn’s roomiest and most exclusive room option, with 750 square feet of space, a private balcony and a king-sized bed.
  • Play a round at the inn’s Camp Creek Golf Course. Created by Tom Fazio, the course has a natural wetland feel and is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The inn also provides shuttle service and access to the Greg Norman-designed Shark’s Tooth Golf Course, situated on Lake Powell approximately 10 minutes away.
  • The South Walton hotel has eight clay tennis courts and eight pickleball courts, all of which are lighted for day and evening action. Periodically the complex hosts competitions and, for those wanting to improve their skills, there are lessons available.
  • A major perk, the property provides free shuttle service and entry to the private Watersound Beach Club, just minutes south. The beach club offers a mile-stretch of beach, cabanas and multiple zero-entry pools.
  • While rooms come stocked with Lavazza coffee and Harney & Sons teas, you will want to raid the Treat Suite. Tucked into each floor, the pantry stocks complimentary soft drinks, coffee and snacks.

The Restaurants

  • ANR — named after the famed Apalachicola Northern Railroad that served the area for a century — is the spot for regionally inspired delights. Open for breakfast and dinner, the spot brings Creole and Cajun flair to dishes like gumbo, fried oysters and fried green tomatoes.
  • Wedged just off the property’s entryway and a more casual affair, 1936 is primed for happy hour or following a day on the golf course. Its fare is lighter with a memorable pimento cheese platter, oyster-loaded po’boy sandwich and jambalaya-inspired pasta.
  • Poolside at Camp Creek Inn, Bark ‘N Brine serves Southern barbecue. Opt for the house-smoked brisket, smoked wings or, on the lighter side, the berry-loaded Watersound Club Salad.
