ME Málaga

An art-centric stay with unbeatable rooftop views
VERIFIED LUXURY
Opened in December 2025, ME Málaga brings a contemporary edge to the coastal Spanish city’s vibrant cultural scene. The design-forward hotel blends polished modern architecture with a distinctly social energy, reflecting the creative pulse of Malaga’s revitalized center. Art-forward interiors, dramatic lighting and stylish gathering spaces give the property the feel of a fashionable urban clubhouse rather than a traditional seaside retreat.

Guest rooms lean minimalist yet polished, with floor-to-ceiling windows, crisp linens and tech-forward touches that make settling in nearly effortless. Many accommodations frame postcard-worthy views of the port, where cruise ships glide past and the sea glitters just beyond the promenade.

Upstairs, the rooftop terrace is poised to become one of the city’s most coveted vantage points. A pool, cocktail bar and DJ-spun soundtrack draw a stylish mix of travelers and locals for sundowners there. With museums, tapas bars and historic landmarks within easy walking distance, the luxury hotel offers a lively base for exploring Malaga after dark.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The rooftop at ME Málaga is the place you’ll inevitably gravitate to. A heated infinity pool and sun-drenched terrace sit eye-level with the hilltop Alcazaba of Malaga and Gibralfaro Castle — a perspective few rooftops in the city can rival.
  • Gastronomy is a major draw thanks to Cañitas Maite, the rooftop restaurant run by rising-star chefs Javier Sanz and Juan Sahuquillo. Their cooking riffs on Spanish tradition — don’t skip the famously creamy Iberian ham croquettes or grilled carabineros (large prawns) with lard sabayon (a custard).
  • Downstairs, the ground-floor bar Eñe offers a more casual gathering space. Expect playful Spanish bites designed to share, from an oxtail doughnut to a reinvented calamari sandwich.
  • Art is woven directly into the stay. The lobby doubles as a gallery space featuring works from artists like Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró, low-slung designer seating (courtesy of Madrid-based designer Rafa García) and a colorful welcome mural by artist Marina Anaya.
  • The setting is hard to beat: the Malaga hotel rises from the former Cine Andalucía building on lively Plaza de la Merced. From here you’re steps from the birthplace museum of Pablo Picasso and a short walk through the city’s historic center.

The Rooms

  • The 128 rooms at ME Málaga occupy the upper floors of the newly built property overlooking Plaza de la Merced. Interiors by Madrid-based ASAH Studio draw on the city’s coastal palette, pairing pale wood and whitewashed surfaces with pops of color in warm earth tones.
  • Always ME rooms keep things streamlined with king or twin beds and floor-to-ceiling windows. Higher floors deliver postcard views of city rooftops and the nearby Alcazaba of Malaga fortress rising above the city.
  • Superior ME City View rooms offer more breathing room and broader vistas across the historic center. Expect thoughtful perks like curated minibars and built-in smart lighting that adjusts the mood at the tap of a bedside control.
  • Bathrooms echo the luxury hotel’s contemporary aesthetic with clean-lined stone finishes and glass-walled rainfall showers. Plush robes and C.O. Bigelow bath products elevate the otherwise minimalist space.
  • At the top of the lineup, the Ultimate ME+ Panoramic Suite stretches to more than 1,100 square feet with a separate living room and sweeping skyline views. From here, Malaga’s terra-cotta rooftops unfold toward the Mediterranean in cinematic fashion
