Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino

An all-suite retreat on the Greek Coast
VERIFIED LUXURY

Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino, the brand’s first foray into Greece, seems almost like a setting straight out of a Greek myth. Tucked into the Peloponnese hillside, Mandarin Oriental occupies a prime location along the Bay of Navarino in Costa Navarino, a buzzed-about luxury development with golf courses, restaurants, hotels and even an agora, or marketplace with shops, dining venues, artisanal street food and an open-air cinema.

The curved modernist design adds an air of timelessness to the property, which debuted in 2023. A blend of local building materials like terrazzo and rattan and mindful landscaping using naturally occurring (and pleasantly fragrant) botanicals complete the paradisical scene.

At just 99 accommodations — all villas and suites — exclusivity reigns here. Secluded pool villas equipped with private plunges, curated experiences like yacht charters and cave rappelling, and a handful of exclusive eateries ensure everything you need is at your fingertips.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino eschews the traditional breakfast buffet in favor of a platter of breakfast tapas delivered to your table and designed for snacking. Savor bites like housemade yogurt parfaits topped with honeycomb and pistachios, locally sourced figs and cocoa-coated smoked turkey.
  • An Instagram-ready infinity pool lined with shaded loungers and a handful of artistic daybeds looks out over the Bay of Navarino and the nearby islands on the horizon. The view makes for a dramatic backdrop any time of day, but sunset is the best time to capture envy-inducing photos.
  • The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino is a haven fit for gods and goddesses. It combines rough-hewn stone with soft billowing linen curtains, all tied together with a jaw-dropping indoor pool surrounded by wall-to-wall windows overlooking the sea.
  • Pool villas up the luxury ante with both indoor and outdoor lounges, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bay and, of course, private pools for secluded dips.
  • Eight onsite dining and drinking venues provide top-notch noshing, but the highlight is the pizza omakase menu at Pizza Sapienza. Chef Daniele Cason serves up an eight-course flight of Roman-style pizza, proved for 48 hours and topped with ultra-fresh ingredients for unforgettable bites.

The Rooms

  • Each of the 99 accommodations comes with Greek touches that offer a luxurious sense of place — think latticed wooden bedframes, locally made rugs inspired by traditional garments and handmade board games carved from olive wood.
  • Regional sourcing is a priority for the luxury hotel, which has stocked its enticing minibars with Adonis keto crackers and Corphes thyme-infused chocolate, and its bathrooms with full-size Ortigia toiletries.
  • Thoughtful artistic touches, like coffee table books on Greek mythology and framed fans emblazoned with antique maps, aim to adorn as well as educate.
  • Every room at the Costa Navarino hotel looks out over the water.
