W Prague

A revived icon with high design
VERIFIED LUXURY

W Hotels made a grand entrance into the Czech Republic with the December 2024 opening of W Prague. Taking over the footprint of the iconic Grand Hotel Evropa, this revitalized 1905 landmark seamlessly blends the city’s rich art nouveau heritage with contemporary design.

The look also adopts whimsical touches. The concept of gold elixir, a magical potion that grants eternal life, echoes as a theme from the façade and communal areas to the 161 striking rooms and suites. And a fantastical garden that draws from the dream-like illustrations of Czech artist Alphonse Mucha is another idea that the design-forward hotel incorporated in places such as the embroidered curtains.

The stylish accommodations are complemented by the W Lounge, which leads to a lush garden; Above Rooftop, a bold rooftop bar with breathtaking views coming in 2025; a revived Grand Café, featuring the beloved Le Petit Beefbar; and Minus One, a cocktail bar whose various spaces house everything from a performance venue to a speakeasy.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The luxury hotel’s interior design takes inspiration from Prague’s artistic heritage, blending historic elements with bold, modern touches. The result is a visually striking (and Instagram-worthy) environment that feels both timeless and cutting-edge.
  • The rooms at W Prague combine contemporary luxury with bold design. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame stunning views of the city. Sleek decor blends chic European aesthetics with local influences, while tech-savvy amenities (smart lighting, Bluetooth speakers disguised as vintage radios) provide a personalized stay.
  • Away Spa provides a hushed oasis from the buzzy hotel through fine facials, massages and detox rituals. Indulgent extras like a Finnish sauna, hydrotherapy circuit, steam room and whirlpool invite you to linger a little longer in the tranquil escape.
  • The Extreme Wow suite looks like something out of Wicked with its emerald color scheme, shiny bronze accents and retro-yet-modern aesthetic. Design lovers and those craving a little extra luxury should check into this 990-square-foot suite that includes its own private bar.
  • Brasserie-inspired Le Petit Beefbar au Grand Café delivers upscale bistro fare with a penchant for protein. While T-bones and striploins play a starring role, don’t skip other Grand Café classics like duck croquettes with potato cream and cranberry or smoked trout ceviche with hazelnut oil.
