On a quiet square in Riga, Latvia’s capital, A22 Hotel occupies a 20-room property in the city’s Art Nouveau embassy district, with verdant Viestura darzs park bordering the luxury hotel and Washington Square just beyond. The intimate scale gives the building a residential feel, while interiors bring a contemporary edge to the historic setting. Individually designed rooms feature bold colors, modern fittings and a mix of furnishings and the top-floor Presidential Suite JFK spans nearly 1,200 square feet, with two bedrooms, a walk-in closet and views over the park.
The building has its own history, too: In 1939, it housed the U.S. Embassy and hosted a young John F. Kennedy during his time as a Harvard student. Today, the connection lives on in the aforementioned quarters, the First Lady Suite JBK and JOHN Chef’s Hall, where a 12-seat dining room centers seasonal Latvian ingredients in a tasting menu. A 24-hour fitness center, sauna and private dining and meeting room round out the facilities.
