Forbes Travel Guide performs independent, incognito inspections of all hotels we rate. This is what we paid when we stayed at this hotel.

When we book, we aim for the optimum season for the destination, but we avoid holidays and major public events, when prices are highest. We generally book a room at one category up from the most basic.

All-inclusive luxury meets artisanal exclusivity at Hotel Xcaret Arte in the Riviera Maya’s Playa del Carmen. Designed to pay tribute to great Mexican artists, the 900-suite hotel blends carefully designed experiences with high-touch service for a curated stay. Select from five unique “casas,” inspired by different Mexican traditions — like del Diseño (textiles), de los Artistsas (painting) or de la Paz (cooking) — and then take an onsite workshop in that particular art form.

Opened in 2021, the adults-only hotel incorporates highlights from the brand’s other established properties in the area (like reciprocal access to the eight parks owned by the group, along with transfers), but also a more refined, stylishly modern atmosphere to let the lush natural surroundings really stand out.

As an Xcaret Arte guest, you will enjoy unlimited access to sister brand Grupo Xcaret’s ecoparks, as well as round-trip transportation to and from.
Partake in nine unique restaurants, ranging from Mediterranean to Chinese (don’t miss Encanta from acclaimed chef Paco Mendez), plus 10 bars (including a speakeasy) scattered around the property.
Muluk Spa is a must-visit with a lush setting inspired by the resort’s jungle-meets-beach location, complete with pools, a hydrotherapy circuit and a recreational pool overlooking the river running through the grounds.
Hotel Xcaret Arteis ideal for active travelers. Xcaret parks offer hiking trails, a replica Mexican village, archaeological sites, a conservation program for sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation, and of course, sandy beaches.
This art hotel goes beyond hanging works on its walls to deliver an immersive experience. Every casa gives specialty workshops in line with its theme: try pottery at Casa de la Pirámide, dance at Casa de la Música, vegan cooking at Casa de la Paz or weaving at Casa del Diseño.

Things to Know

The Playa del Carmen hotel is designed for adults 16 and up only, although sister properties allow families to visit, and all permit access to Xcaret attractions via the All-Fun Inclusive program.
At check-in you will receive a digital bracelet to wear throughout your stay. Use the bracelet for admission to Grupo Xcaret’s parks and to pay for items at the boutiques, spa services and more.
Transfers to and from Cancun International Airport are included, ensuring the stay is seamless from start to finish.
Each check-in is done in your individual casa or tower, offering a more personalized way to start and end your vacation. Every casa also has its own dedicated dining venues, programming and more.

The Rooms

The all-suite luxury hotel adorns its accommodations in modern Mexican décor with neural marble and wood tones. Pops of pale pink and purple add a stylishly feminine touch.
Rooms are oversized, starting at 645 square feet.
Each of the six buildings provides a different class with a unique art focus — select from literature, painting, pottery, weaving, cooking or dance.
