JW Marriott Tampa Water Street

A Water Street wellness hub
VERIFIED LUXURY

JW Marriott Tampa Water Street is a welcome addition to Tampa's evolving landscape. Soaring 27 stories into the Florida sky, it serves as an anchor of Water Street Tampa, the world’s first WELL-certified community that embraces well-being and sustainability. The opening of JW Marriott Tampa Water Street in 2021 marked the 100th JW Marriott property worldwide.

Inside the stunningly designed building that is simultaneously chic, warm and inviting, each of the 519 guest rooms features floor-to-ceiling windows that provide uninterrupted views of the city skyline, Tampa Bay and Amalie Arena, home to the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning and a host of concerts and other events.

Once settled, take advantage of the hotel’s myriad amenities, like two sixth-floor resort-style pools with cabanas, Spa by JW, six dining options and 100,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including the awe-inspiring Skybox, a glass-enclosed floating conference room suspended over the atrium lobby. The pièce de résistance is the hotel’s new rooftop bar, opened in the fall of 2023 as the second-highest rooftop bar in Florida.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The 2,200-plus-square-foot Presidential Suite boasts a 1,000-square-foot balcony that affords sweeping views of the city and can easily be used year round.
  • The 23 Stay Well Premier Rooms, all on the 15th floor of the hotel, embrace the wellness ethos of Water Street Tampa with air purification systems, vitamin C-infused showers, circadian mood lighting, natural memory foam mattresses and more.
  • Spa by JW features 12 treatment suites and a private outdoor whirlpool. If you indulge in a service (like a customized massage or a Key lime body buff), you will have use of the spa amenities for the entire day.
  • A skybridge to neighboring Tampa Marriott Water Street adds another handful of dining options and a waterfront pool, all of which are available to guests of JW Marriott Tampa Water Street.
  • The crown jewel of the Tampa hotel is Beacon, the 27th-floor rooftop cocktail bar serving shareable plates and featuring an all-weather wrap-around terrace, two exquisitely appointed indoor bars and a private dining space — all of which make for idyllic spots to watch the sun set into the Gulf of Mexico in the distance.

The Restaurants

  • By night, Driftlight Steakhouse, off of the hotel’s lobby, specializes in nicely aged steaks and locally sourced seafood dishes. By day, it’s a delicious spot for breakfast. Regardless of the meal, diners make themselves comfortable in a bright and airy setting, with a hint of elegant art deco aesthetic.
  • Find casual bistro fare and drinks for lunch and dinner at the aptly named Six, found on the sixth floor of the luxury hotel overlooking the pools and sun deck. Six is a terrific terrace alternative if reservations are hard to come by at Beacon.
  • Grab a bite on the go at Turntable’s street-level food window, turning out seasonal food and drinks well-suited to enjoy on the nearby Riverwalk.
  • Pop in for a daytime pick-me-up at JW Market with its selection of coffees, teas, cold-pressed juices and snacks.
