Doyle Collection, known for its British and Irish boutique hotels, brings a taste of Europe back across the pond with its D.C. flagship, The Dupont Circle. - The D.C. hotel is fresh from a stylish, multimillion-dollar renovation, done in concert with Clodagh New York, a design team that hails originally from Ireland. You’ll find contemporary furnishings in striking dark woods and brass and glass accents. Some décor feels both stylish and almost feminine in a soft color palette of grays with metallic details that feel livable and highly Instagrammable at the same time.
- Newly redesigned by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, Doyle bar boasts a chic mid-century-modern style. Don’t miss the seasonal cocktails — like a boozy hot chocolate called the Dupont Circle made with Frangelico, Cointreau, bittersweet chocolate, tahini, almond milk, agave and marshmallow — as well as the tipples that playfully interpret 1950s and ’60s classics.
- Chef Michael Sammour brings a bit of glitz and glam to The Pembroke, serving three- and four-course prix fixe menus with seasonal ingredients. While the dark wood touches and stunning marble bar feel sophisticated, the floor-to-ceiling glass windows and wide array of lush indoor plantings lend the space a modern, green and youthful look.
- The hotel offers 32 suites, but each is a unique treat, many boasting floor-to-ceiling windows and private glass balconies with bird’s-eye views of the city’s landscape. Our favorite? The grand Penthouse, with its wraparound views of Dupont Circle from the balcony.
- Another reason to book a suite on the Penthouse Level: each day between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., a roving cocktail cart offers a complimentary glass of red or white wine or your choice of a rotating cocktail selection.
- Dupont Circle (the hotel’s neighborhood) was named, as were so many famous spots in D.C., after members of our military, in this case, Rear Admiral Samuel Francis Du Pont.
- The traffic circle is one of the area’s most intense, so we’d suggest walking over driving, or hopping the Red line of the Metro to get to anywhere you’d like to go.
- The luxury hotel can be quite full of business travelers during the week, particularly given that it sits in the center of the business district.

- One of our favorite museums nearby is the National Geographic Museum (yes, it’s the same team that produces the magazine and the TV channel). The immersive rotating exhibitions are impressive, and they have included items like the Titanic and King Tut.
- You’re within walking distance of the White House, but you can’t drop by for an impromptu visit. Be sure to sign up for your tour before coming to D.C., as it requires a free application through your member of Congress.
- One of our favorite neighborhoods is just a few blocks from the hotel, Logan Circle. Shop for home décor at Salt & Sundry or Room and Board, live like a local at popular French brasserie Le Diplomate, watch an indie music show at the Black Cat or a play at Studio Theatre, or simply take a stroll to marvel at the beautiful Victorian-era rowhomes.
