Lesante Cape

A village-inspired retreat on Zakynthos
VERIFIED LUXURY
One of the largest Ionian Islands, Zakynthos has emerged as one of Greece’s most alluring destinations, and Lesante Cape distills everything that makes the island so captivating into a 97-room resort.

Designed to emulate a traditional Zakynthian village, the luxury Greek resort comes complete with a taverna, church, kafeneio (traditional Greek cafés that serve as the heart of village life), museum and town square. Lesante Cape's immersive approach captures the island's culture and easygoing rhythm while sparing guests the crowds of its increasingly popular hot spots.

Located in the hamlet of Akrotiri, where Zakynthian noble families once built grand estates along the eastern coast, the boutique hotel makes the most of its picturesque setting. Terraced infinity pools overlook the Ionian Sea, the resort’s restaurants showcase just-caught seafood and the island's famed olive oil, while a temple-like spa and breezy suites inspired by Zakynthos' elegant manors invite complete relaxation.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Shaped by centuries of Venetian rule, alongside layers of Byzantine, French and British influence, Zakynthos’ architecture favors honey-colored stone, marble and terra cotta rather than the stark-white facades many associate with the Greek islands. Lesante Cape embraces this distinctly Zakynthian style, creating an aesthetic that feels like a meeting point between Greece and Southern Italy.
  • Lesante Cape emphasizes local sourcing for its 10 restaurants and bars, drawing on produce from its own organic garden, vineyard and orchards, while also partnering with nearby farmers, fishermen and artisan producers. The grounds are also home to more than 400 native olive trees, which were intentionally removed during the Zakynthos hotel’s construction before being painstakingly replanted.
  • Make a beeline for one of the three terraced infinity pools that appear to spill down the cliffside above the Ionian Sea. You’ll find a poolside bar and several peaceful spaces tailored to adults, alongside a shallower family pool for younger guests. If you're feeling more adventurous, follow the steps down to the resort's private rock-and-pebble beach. Two floating wooden platforms outfitted with sunbeds and umbrellas extend out over the water, with drinks and snacks delivered from the beach bar.
  • Armonia Wellness & Spa draws on the Mediterranean’s long tradition of healing, pairing a design inspired by ancient Greek architecture with modern wellness facilities. Inside, you’ll find an indoor-outdoor pool, a traditional hammam, a sauna and treatments using luxury Ariadne Athens skincare products — all within a serene, temple-like setting.
  • Exploring the waters around Zakynthos is a highlight, thanks in part to Lesante Cape's private yacht fleet. Cruise to secluded coves and hidden beaches, from the dramatic white cliffs of Shipwreck Beach (also known as Navagio Bay) to eco-conscious excursions around Marathonisi Island, within the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, where you may spot the region's protected loggerhead sea turtles. The fleet consists of sleek, contemporary yachts with generous outdoor lounging areas, cabins and every comfort needed for a leisurely day on the Ionian Sea.

The Rooms

  • Accommodations follow the luxury hotel’s contemporary village concept, with suites and villas built from honey-hued local stone, exposed beams and soft archways that echo Zakynthos’s historic manor houses. Green roofs — featuring native Mediterranean species — help soften the architecture, allowing the buildings to blend naturally into the surrounding groves and hillside.
  • The interiors are understated yet elegant, pairing sand-colored wood, beige marble, woven rattan, macramé and natural stone with artisanal décor, including locally crafted pottery. A palette of creams, warm neutrals and sun-bleached earth tones reflects the colors of Zakynthos itself, while stone-tiled verandas reinforce the feeling of a traditional Mediterranean home.
  • With more than a dozen accommodation categories, Lesante Cape offers 480-plus-square-foot Deluxe Suites, Sea View Suites with generous verandas and balconies, and spacious multi-bedroom villas. Many come with private pools, while separate living and sleeping areas give each accommodation a relaxed, residential feel.
  • Bathrooms are finished in pale marble with double vanities, spacious walk-in rainfall showers and deep soaking tubs. The amenities, from Greek luxury brand Zealots of Nature, are infused with Mediterranean botanicals, including Greek olive oil, mandarin and lime.
  • The villas impress not only for their sheer size, but also for their exceptional amenities. At the top of the range, the 3,875-square-foot Edge Six Bedroom Seafront Private Residence accommodates up to 12 guests and features a spectacular infinity pool, an outdoor whirlpool, a lounge area with a fire pit, plus multiple terraces. A dedicated villa host, in-residence dining and curated private experiences are also included.
