Edge

Celebrity's innovation at sea
VERIFIED LUXURY

Celebrity Edge pioneered modern-day cruising. The first of Celebrity's Edge ships made its splashy debut in December 2018, but its innovative design still makes it feel brand new in its bold defiance of the standard cruise ship model. The two now-signature features of the Celebrity Cruise brand — the Magic Carpet, the cantilevered venue that moves up and down the vessel’s exterior, and the infinite verandas, whose design transforms staterooms into indoor-outdoor spaces with openable windows — began with this ground-breaking ship.

With a capacity for 2,918 passengers, the 1,467 staterooms provide an extensive range of unique configurations across room categories — the most comprehensive array of options across the Celebrity fleet — to maximize the appeal of cruising and make Celebrity Edge more akin to a floating hotel.

Celebrity Edge also introduced The Retreat, a hotel-within-a-hotel with three exclusive experiences: The Retreat Sundeck, a stylish spot to soak up the rays that includes a pool and hot tub; The Retreat Lounge, a private place to sip drinks and nosh on bites with dedicated concierge service; and Luminae at The Retreat, a private restaurant whose menu includes dishes from French master chef Daniel Boulud.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The Magic Carpet's movable exterior deck proves an effective way to speed up the hassle of the usual disembarkation process — it serves as a tender platform. It not only adds to the ship's function but the fun as well — the tennis-court-sized space is used as a scenic brunch and entertainment venue that hovers above the water.
  • Eden, the three-floor entertainment hub of the ship, supplies an all-day restaurant, lounge and theater so passengers can enjoy a craft coffee by day and an exceptionally well-made cocktail by night. And the design is striking: Eschewing the typical closed-off cruise spaces, Eden offers an almost 7,000-square-foot glass wall, which was more outward-facing glass than any other venue at sea at the time. Further embracing nature, Eden provides a green onboard oasis with leafy ceiling tiles, an emerald mermaid-scale wall, Milan designer Patricia Urquiola’s “Library of Plants” (perched above the bar, the plants are used as ingredients for cocktails) and dangling plant pillars.
  • Runners, walkers and those looking to stay active will love using the outdoor track spanning two of the ship's decks, along with a state-of-the-art fitness center featuring Peloton bikes and studio classes.
  • The service stands out with a two-to-one ratio of passengers to crew members; you can readily find a staff member eager to help accommodate any request with a friendly smile.
  • The 29 diverse dining options on board ensure you will never tire of the food onboard. The four primary restaurants each contain a unique ambiance and varied menus — enjoy contemporary French in Normandie, authentically rustic Italian in Tuscan, new American in Cosmopolitan and seafood-forward Mediterranean in Cyprus.

Things to Know

  • The ample natural light streaming through the window and elements of greenery incorporated throughout the stateroom's gray-hued interiors create a space that feels airy and spacious.
  • Celebrity's other signature ship design innovation, the infinite veranda — a glass screened porch that opens and closes with just a push of a button — makes it easy to enjoy the fresh salt air without compromising cabin space.
  • An intelligent app allows you to easily tailor your cabin's temperature, lighting and blinds to your liking.
  • Passengers who book one of the 146 Celebrity Edge Sky Suites will receive access to a private lounge, sundeck and restaurant Luminae.
