Flora

Celebrity's intimate Galapagos encounter
VERIFIED LUXURY

Celebrity Flora is the first ship in the world made to sail the Galapagos Islands' ecological wonderland. Yet the company’s sleek custom-built ship more closely resembles a mega-yacht than a traditional cruise ship — Flora accommodates only 100 passengers, all of whom stay in 50 spacious and stunning onboard suites tended to by attendants.

In creating a ship from the ground up with the express purpose of navigating the archipelago about roughly 600 miles from the coast of Ecuador, Celebrity added a team of naturalists certified by Galapagos National Park on board to guide twice-daily shore expeditions and a host of onboard activities.

The eco-friendly ship also made a commitment to sustainable tourism. For example, to protect the sea floor, Flora does not drop anchors; Celebrity helped form a local fishing co-op whose fresh catch is served onboard; and instead of using plastic bottles, suites come equipped with S’well bottles and filtered water stations; and the ship uses solar-panel power. Celebrity Flora grants unprecedented access to the islands without sacrificing luxury.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The ship's outward-facing design invites you to observe the islands even when onboard.Even the suites adopt this design, with each bed pointing toward the infinite veranda, the staterooms’ indoor-outdoor space that’s a hallmark on all Edge class ships.
  • The interior design of the cabins and common space brings nature onboard with natural accents woven throughout courtesy of Ecuadorian native Adriana Hoyos's eye and the original art inspired by the flora and fauna of the Galapagos.
  • The onboard dining adheres to the quality expected of the Celebrity brand with Seaside Restaurant's rotating, Ecuadorian-influenced breakfasts, lunches and dinners and slightly more casual alternative Ocean Grill.
  • The Observatory provides an excellent space to step away for a moment to curl up in one of the onboard library's oversized chairs and take in the view from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
  • A unique way to experience the islands is the glamping-at-sea offering, the first of its kind. You will stay in teak-slatted cabanas on the top deck for an evening. One cabana houses a bed, and the other offers a lounging and dining area. A naturalist will show you the constellations while you sip campfire-inspired cocktails, s’mores and a meal under the stars.
