In 2022, Windstar’s Star Pride transformed and expanded, increasing its capacity from 212 to 312 passengers, which still lends the vessel to feel more like an intimate, private luxury yacht rather than a mega cruise ship. The cosmetic enhancements to the Star Pride contribute to the laid-back elegance that the brand is known for. These updates include refreshed staterooms, the addition of two new restaurants and a fully renovated spa and fitness center.

Even with all of the changes, cruisers who are loyal to the Windstar brand will be pleased to know that the ship’s signature charm remains intact. Candles continues to be a popular spot for romantic dinners and the beloved barbecue night is still a highlight, only now it can be enjoyed on an expanded sundeck with shorter lines.

Our Inspector's Highlights

Because the all-suite ship accommodates just over 300 passengers, it not only creates a cozy, yacht-like experience on board but the vessel is granted access to smaller ports that are off the beaten cruise ship path.
Cabins in all categories exude elegance and spaciousness, with each featuring a seating area separate from the bed, ample storage space and redesigned bathrooms stocked with L'Occitane bath amenities.
The Spanish restaurant Cuadro 44, added in the expansion, serves tapas in an open kitchen and, with standout dishes such as the charred octopus and grilled chorizo, offers a welcome change of pace from the customary cruise cuisine.
Unlike some cruise ships, where getting from your cabin to the pool can feel like a maze, the Star Pride’s intuitive split-deck layout puts suites on every deck, ensuring that passengers will not have to travel far for dining and entertainment options.
The service onboard the Star Pride is warm and personable, enhancing the feeling of a private cruise. You can expect daily fruit baskets, a well-stocked minibar, fresh flowers and even laundry service for longer voyages.

Things to Know

Amphora is the main dining room for evening meals on the ship, while The Veranda offers table service and a buffet-style breakfast and lunch. In the evening, The Veranda transforms into Candles, a white tablecloth-adorned steakhouse. To enjoy this popular Windstar restaurant, be sure to make a reservation in advance.
The spa’s thermal suite is free for passengers to use and includes a dry sauna, a steam room, an experience shower and heated lounge chairs.
The ship features 156 suites in a variety of configurations. The Deluxe Suites, with their French-style balcony, the spacious new Star Balcony Suites and the veranda-equipped Owner’s Suites are some of our favorite units.
Other renovation highlights are the expanded sun deck with a new infinity pool, along with a refurbished spa and fitness center that now offers daily group classes.
