La Dame (Silver Shadow)

Refined French flavors on the water
VERIFIED LUXURY

La Dame, named after the Eiffel Tower or “La Dame de Fer” (The Iron Lady), pays tribute to French gastronomy with a multi-course menu that changes with the seasons. One of the most impressive aspects of La Dame’s dinner service aboard Silversea's Silver Shadow is its finely attuned sense of balance. The service is formal without being fussy, the dishes are decadent yet elegantly restrained, and the menu is rooted in culinary tradition while still being innovative.

The intimate dining room, beautifully adorned with crisp white tablecloths and Lalique crystal wall panels, provides the perfect backdrop for stunningly plated dishes such as glazed Périgord duck breast and a divine seafood bouillabaisse.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Immaculate white tablecloths and exquisite, custom crystal wall panels crafted by French luxury glassmaker Lalique create a rarified ambiance worthy of the sophisticated menu.
  • You won’t regret opting for the wine pairing experience. Course after course, each well-considered pour enhances your meal. For example, a crisp sauvignon blanc brightens delicate lobster medallions.
  • With limited seating for just 40 diners per evening, La Dame offers a decidedly intimate atmosphere. As you might imagine, reservations are essential to secure a table during your voyage.
  • The white-gloved service here is formal, without feeling stuffy, striking a balance that Silver Shadow excels at achieving.
  • Like its service, La Dame’s menu honors the traditions of French haute cuisine while weaving in creative, memorable touches, evidenced by dishes like foie gras en robe paired with Granny Smith essence or Burgundy escargot encased in puff pastry with a dash of warming paprika.

Things to Know

  • Like many of Silversea’s restaurants, and in keeping with the brand’s S.A.L.T. (Sea and Land Taste) ethos of showcasing cuisine inspired by each destination’s local food culture, La Dame features a rotating menu that evolves with every itinerary.
  • Though dishes may change from cruise to cruise, typically a meal at La Dame begins on a decadent note with the signature farm-raised caviar, accompanied by earthy buckwheat blinis, buttery Jersey potatoes and traditional condiments.
  • On the tasting menu, seafood creations like thinly sliced, pan-fried Maine lobster paired with a tangy mango salsa and finished with a delicate veil of lobster mayonnaise provide a fresh contrast to richer dishes like foie gras with buttery brioche or juicy beef filet in a truffle jus.
  • A house signature, the pan-fried Dover sole in a tangy beurre meunière is a must-try — the fish is slightly sweet and delicately flaky, while crisp potato wafers add a welcome crunch.
  • Expect desserts that can range from a warm cloud of pistachio soufflé dusted in powdered sugar to refreshingly tart lemon sorbet. They provide an elegant lead-in to a grand finale of petit fours.
