The Edge Restaurant & Lounge

Stunning Lake Tahoe views and seasonal flavors
VERIFIED LUXURY
At Edgewood Tahoe Resort’s The Edge Restaurant & Lounge, floor-to-ceiling windows showcase the reflection of the Sierra Nevada shimmering on the lake in one of Tahoe’s few true waterfront restaurants. During sunset, pinks, purples and oranges dance on the water. When the sky darkens, there’s still plenty to admire with curved vaulted ceilings, lights dangling like stars and rich cobalt leather seats contrasting against the white tablecloths like snow on Lake Tahoe.

The food is every bit a match for this magical setting, with a menu showcasing fresh flavors and surprises, from swoon-worthy dishes starring seasonally sourced ingredients and housemade pastas. A five-course tasting menu highlights fresh regional meats and produce from nearby farms, balancing accessibility and technical skill.

The wine list holds more than 1,000 labels, and each signature cocktail uniquely showcases citrus. Non-alcoholic cocktails are served with equal flourish, featuring sophisticated ingredients like tomato ponzu or cherry vanilla foam.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The Edge Restaurant & Lounge is inside one of the region’s finest hotels, The Edgewood Tahoe Resort. The resort is a popular destination for golfers. It hosts the famed American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament every July, but many people come just to enjoy the waterfront location and private beach.
  • The two-level formal dining room ensures that every table has a view of the water. On the top tier, a private dining room with a sparkling blue mosaic wall doubles as a work of art.
  • If you’re dining with a companion, consider the tasting menu. By going this route, you can sample highlights without sacrificing anything that piqued your interest on the regular menu. And don’t shy away from the wine pairings; they’re an excellent value and enhance each bite.
  • A tableside cart offers a curated selection of cheeses, charcuterie and accompaniments (see: fruit, olives and spreads)with a touch of pomp and flair. If you have a sweet tooth, it’s just as fitting for a dessert course as it is an appetizer.
  • The swanky Edge Lounge features an enormous chandelier that plunges like a frozen waterfall to a large circular bar. Leather and textile chairs gather around fireplaces and corner nooks to provide intimate areas for conversation. The bar has its own menu, with destination-worthy dishes like a tender beef carpaccio topped with king crab, Tsar Nicoulai caviar and black truffle.

The Food

  • Chef de cuisine Cody Ginther chases the seasons, and the menu changes to highlight fresh ingredients. The tasting menu might include tender American wagyu with charred peppers, local melon and mint served after courses like housemade vermicelli with California coast uni, Brisa Ranch beans, yuzu negi and king crab.
  • Don’t overlook the vegetable dishes. Ginther is a sorcerer who manages to marry broccolini with ingredients likewhipped tahini tofu or wild blueberry molasses and turns the dish into a stunner you can’t stop thinking about. Another recent highlight was an exquisite roasted local tomato with sesame, boquerones (white anchovies), bubu arare (Japanese rice crackers) and sorrel that was packed with so much flavor it rivaled the steak.
  • Desserts have a great deal to live up to, and they deliver. The team creates showstoppers from familiar indulgences. This includes feats like plating a deconstructed tiramisu with delicate chiffon cake, coffee reduction and mascarpone mousse.
