Hualalai Spa
Hawaiian luxury with a fitness focus
VERIFIED LUXURY
Here are five things to know about us:
1. We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
2. We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
3. Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
4. While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.
5. We started in1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.
Five-Star
These properties deliver an outstanding experience and consistently offer a highly customized level of service.
Four-Star
These are exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match.
Recommended
These are excellent properties with consistently good service and facilities.
Soon To Be Rated
As our highly trained, incognito inspectors work to assess properties, our editors check them out ahead of time and provide a sneak preview of what to expect.
Featuring an open-air gym, a grass yoga and meditation courtyard, an Olympic-style lap pool, a sand volleyball court and eight tennis courts, Hualalai Spa has dozens of ways to stay fit. Try scaling the 24-foot climbing wall, join fitness hikes, or take a kickboxing, tai chi or water aerobics class.
After working up a sweat at the fitness center, unwind in the sensational spa. The facility offers a variety of massages, including lomi lomi, Swedish and sports. Signature body treatments include the Hualalai herbal wrap, which uses hibiscus (the state flower) to stimulate the release of toxins, while Hawaiian red clay, mineral-rich salts and essential oils make up the deep-cleansing Hualalai salt glow.

Our Inspector's Highlights
- As a guest of Four Seasons Hualalai, you have a few options when you are looking to snag your treatment time. You can visit the Kona spa itself if you happen to already be on the property or you can have the concierge set up an appointment for you when you make your room reservation.
- A massage at Hualalai Spa is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. With 13 different types of massages and more than 50 varieties within those, the toughest thing you’ll have to do is choose just one.
- The 28,000-square-foot Hualalai Spa integrates tropical gardens with cool interior spaces and feels distinctly Hawaiian. Enjoy relaxing by a quiet stream in the open-air Waiea (Water of Life) garden.
- For a unique experience, opt for one of the spa’s wellness treatments like acupuncture, sleep therapy and guided meditation.
Things to Know
- If you are looking to get an appointment at Hualalai Spa, you’ll have to book a room at the hotel, as this spa is for guests only.
- Hualalai Spa has the standard cancellation policy that is in place at all of the Four Seasons spas: You must cancel at least 24 hours in advance or else you will have to pay — literally. Canceling within the one-day period means that you have to pay for your services in full.
The Treatments
- The aromatherapy massage is your basic spa treatment. With the use of essential oils as a catalyst, your therapist will stimulate your body’s self-healing abilities.
- To get that authentic island feel, try the Hualalai Island Stone massage. In this 80-minute treatment, hot and cold stones will be placed on and under your body to open up energy centers.
- Some of the other massages are the traditional Swedish massage, Thai massage, Shiatsu, deep tissue and the sacred Hawaiian healing art of LomiLomi. All of the massages can be experienced poolside and beachside for an extra dose of that Hawaiian goodness.
- Treat you and your loved one to an escape inside the spa’s Couple’s Hale. Whether you opt for a duet massage or the Romance Escape, you will indulge in side-by-side treatments.
