The Velvet Red Carpet Facial, featuring NuBo's White Diamond Ice-Glow Mask, is light a fountain of youth for dehydrated skin. Guests are encouraged to spend time in the heat and water experience area pre- or post-treatment.

- Walking into the Five-Star spa, you get a real sense of urban elegance from the curvy space and unfussy furnishings in a color palette that revolves around deep chocolate brown.
- The Zen-like relaxation room has lounge beds separated by white curtains, and while magazines are provided, you’ll probably be far more fascinated by the views overlooking Hong Kong far below, especially as the sun goes down and city starts to twinkle.
- The oval-shaped waiting room offers plenty of comfortable, high-backed armchairs with pillows and the dark wood paneled space gives off a cool yet calming vibe.
- On the shelves in the reception area you’ll also see a range of goods for purchase including ESPA’s own line of massage oils and facial creams, plus great gifts for your loved ones like Vilebrequin swim trunks and beautiful pearl necklaces.
- As you complete your registration card, the receptionist will serve you a pot of hot passion fruit-flavored tea to accelerate a spa-going mindset — though in this tranquil, dimly lit space, getting in the mood for pampering doesn’t take much.
Things to Know
- To reach the sophisticated spa, you’ll first pass through the hotel’s ground floor entrance and take the elevator to the 103rd floor, where you’ll find the The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong's main lobby. Walk across the floor to the next elevator bank, and whiz up to the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star spa's entrance on the 116th floor.
- If you’re just booking a simple facial or massage, you won’t have access to the hotel’s indoor infinity pool and hot tub, located on the 118th floor.
- The spa regularly offers seasonal packages that will give you access to all the wet facilities and will include a light poolside lunch, where you can revive yourself with freshly squeezed juices and admire the view and feel on top of the world.
- In addition to ESPA products and treatments, offerings from MDNA Skin, NuBo and 111Skin have been added to the menu.
- The experience showers are definitely brisk temperature-wise, so make sure you’re good and ready to cool down.
The Treatments
- The Radiance Facial with Jade Stone Eye Treatment helps revive tired skin caused by pollution, toxins, stress and lack of sleep. Skin radiance moisturizer helps bring vitality back into your skin, while Chinese jade stone rollers rejuvenate tired eyes.
- The Lava Shell Body Treatment is a full-body experience that helps release tension and leave your skin feeling renewed and invigorated. Heated lava shells first soothe tired feet, followed by an aromatic, deep-tissue massage to rid your body (and mind) of any muscle stress.
- We’ve all spent too many hours hunched over our computers, but the therapeutic Executive Destress massage, focuses on the back, shoulders and arms, helping undo all that held-in tension. Aromatherapy massage techniques alleviate stress and the cooling jade eye rollers also will help focus the mind.
- The traditional Oriental Massage is tailored for you and uses traditional Chinese techniques to help balance the flow of energy. Deep acupressure movements along with stretching and kneading plus an Oriental head massage will recharge you in no time, leaving you free of tension and blocked energy.
- The basic pedicure here goes way beyond the standard trim, polish and paint jobs at some salons. The 75-minute long treatment includes an oil massage on your lower legs, a soothing cream mask, a brief massage and scrub along with buffing, shaping and polishing.
The Facilities
- The spa’s sleek and sophisticated surroundings were designed by the renowned London-based spa brand ESPA, which also trained the professional female and male therapists from Hong Kong and Nepal.
- Near the reception area you’ll find the finishing studio where you can have manicures and semi-private pedicures in an elegant setting.
- The Hong Kong retreat doesn’t boast extensive wet areas compared to some spas in Hong Kong, but you’ll find a dark tiled, herbal steam room in the locker room.
- The experience shower features three distinct settings: tropical rain, where a rainfall shower head drips cool water over your body; body spray, in which several smaller shower heads squirt water over you from different angles; and Arctic mist, which gently envelops you in a fine spray with a minty, fresh scent.
- Otherwise, you’ll find two walk-in showers concealed by frosted glass doors on the opposite end of the locker room where you can wash your hair and scrub down before or after your treatment.
