Forbes Travel Guide performs independent, incognito inspections of all hotels we rate. This is what we paid when we stayed at this hotel.

Rates can vary widely by room type and season. "We Paid" is intended to give a general sense of price, but you might find considerably different rates for your trip.

When we book, we aim for the optimum season for the destination, but we avoid holidays and major public events, when prices are highest. We generally book a room at one category up from the most basic.

We take advantage of promotional rates, when possible. That means the rate you see above might have included other benefits, such as spa or meal credits.

We are the only independent, global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants, spas and ocean cruise ships.

Here are five things to know about us:

1. We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.

2. We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.

Natural wood and exposed brick, eucalyptus-scented air and the soothing sound of grasshoppers as you step off the elevators are just a few of the defining elements of Sin City’s Spa Mio. The 23,000-square-foot space inside M Resort Spa Casino has all the usual amenities — sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi — but it’s the organic slant that draws the biggest buzz. The 50-minute Organic facial incorporates organic orchard fruits like papaya and apricots to nourish and hydrate the skin.

The 80-minute Wild Flower and Earth wrap starts with a vigorous exfoliation before the body is painted with a blend of mineral-rich mud from the Atlas Mountains (apparently, it’s an old beauty secret from Morocco) and your choice of essential oils. The fitness center boasts some of the best desert views in Vegas through its floor-to-ceiling windows, making even a workout an organic experience. Our Inspector's Highlights

• Spa Mio features a modern design and furnishings while staying true to is nature-inspired ambience. A mixture of wood, marble and stone covered floors and walls adds a sense of luxury in the spa area.

• Shimmering chandeliers, the fragrant smell of eucalyptus and fresh flowers exude a relaxed and tranquil feel.

• Some areas of M Resort Spa Casino’s spa feature soft natural lighting from the floor to ceiling windows.

• The Las Vegas spa’s reception and fitness center offer views of the glistening pool area, giving you something to look forward to, besides your treatments, that is.

• While you wait for your stress-busting relaxation massage, enjoy the spread of refreshments, which includes apples, oranges, bananas, tea, coffee, soda and sparkling water. The spa staff can make a cranberry-pineapple spritzer, too, which is very refreshing.

Things to Know

• Don’t worry about bringing anything with you as there are plenty of bath and grooming amenities readily available for you to use — shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, body lotion and other toiletries you might need. Hair products are available upon request.

• While there is no charge for hotel guests to use the pool, there is a nominal fee for those not staying at M Resort.

• Be sure to check out the luxurious cabanas and daybeds that are available to rent so you can lounge like a king or queen.

The Treatments

• Your body will feel rejuvenated as warm smooth stones are massaged across it during the relaxing Spa Mio deluxe stone massage. According to the spa, this ancient massage technique is enhanced with soothing aromatherapy oils.

• A Spa Mio head and foot massage is sure to relax and restore your body and soul. It all starts with a scalp massage, where your therapist applies gentle pressure and tender kneading techniques. Foot pampering concludes the session.

• Wild flower and earth wraps get you in touch with nature. Your therapist will apply a mineral-rich mud (from the Atlas Mountains) onto your body, then use your choice between a soothing rose and orange blossom wrap or a jasmine and mint wrap.

• The mother-to-be massage can relax tense muscles, ease sore spots and improve circulation. This pre-natal treatment includes light massage strokes to help with pain in the lower back, hips and feet. Mothers-to-be will feel reinvigorated.

• You can customize your nail treatment with gel polish application and removal, a French polish or have the technician give you a new set of acrylic nails or a fill. Starting with a mineralizing and hydrating, seaweed foot bath, a thorough exfoliation and leg wrap is included too.

The Facilities

• The men's and women's locker rooms each have a steam room, sauna and two whirlpools for you to enjoy before or after your treatments. Women's rooms also have an experience shower that uses ambient sound, light, aromatherapy and water temperature to enhance your shower.

• If you want to cool off from the desert heat, make use of M Resort's Villaggio Del Sole Pool and Entertainment Piazza. The entire area covers more than 100,000 square feet, which includes two 5,460-square-foot heated infinity pools.

• You can also sit back and relax in one of the two Jacuzzis, which are surrounded by fire torches. Both pools are only four feet deep and also have wading pools to accommodate everyone.

• The cabanas feature chaise lounges along with their own LCD televisions, iHome docking stations and ceiling fans.

• The VIP cabanas offer everything that the regular cabanas do except that they also have a personal hot tub, a private shower and access to a private sundeck.
