137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok

Modern Thai luxury in the heart of Sukhumvit
VERIFIED LUXURY

137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok feels a bit different from Chiang Mai’s lauded 137 Pillars House. Rather than reviving the teak-framed grandeur of bygone times like its sister property in the north, the boutique hotel embraces the Thai capital’s modern elegance.

Filling out a 33-floor skyscraper that straddles the lively Phrom Phong and Thonglor neighborhoods, the 179 serviced apartments and 34 high-rise suites have breathed new life into Bangkok’s portfolio of high-end properties. 137 Pillars Bangkok is full of subtle touches, from private butler service to top-of-the-line amenities like Bose sound systems. Suite guests also enjoy breakfasts and complimentary sundowners at the 26th-floor Baan Borneo Club, plus exclusive access to the rooftop infinity pool — which might be the city’s most stunning.

The hotel’s location, set back from Sukhumvit Road yet wedged between its top dining and nightlife districts, makes it an appealing choice for all types of travelers.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • You can’t talk about 137 Pillars Bangkok without mentioning its pools. While all guests enjoy access to the 27th-floor infinity pool and Jacuzzi tubs, only suite guests can use the rooftop pool, a zero-edge slice of serenity open 24 hours, commanding 360-degree views of the city.
  • Partake in the thoughtful array of activities. Tee off at the sixth-floor golf simulator and outdoor putting range, sign up for private yoga sessions or try your hand at muay Thai. All are available onsite.
  • Don’t miss the Nitra Serenity Centre on the 28th floor. The holistic face and body treatments span traditional and modern practices, from Thai massage to reiki. If you’ve recently deplaned, try the signature Sleep by Design Therapy, a 90-minute service involving sleep-aiding gadgetry, massage and herbal tea.
  • The luxury hotel has a well-deserved reputation as a gourmet destination. The lobby-level Bangkok Trading Post ranks among the city’s top brunch spots, Nimitr is a favorite for elevated Thai fare and the 27th-floor pool bar is a not-so-secret sundowner destination for Bangkok residents. Suite guests also enjoy exclusivity with private access to the Baan Borneo Club for made-to-order breakfasts, afternoon tea and happy hours.
  • Thoughtful tour options give guests VIP access to the side of the city that many miss. Sign up for a private tour of Bangkok galleries led by a local art expert or customize a day out bouncing from heritage sites to onsen to cocktail bars in the hotel’s navy-blue London cab, “Louie.”

The Rooms

  • The 34 suites occupying the top floors of the building are a cut above. The smallest clock in at a spacious 750 square feet, while the biggest — the Rattanakosin Suites — boast 1,350 square feet, including a separate living room, a dining room, two bathrooms, a walk-in closet and a private wine cellar. The best feature, though, is the balcony, complete with a daybed and rocking chair, a favorite from 137 Pillars Chiang Mai.
  • Starting at 430 square feet, the lower-level residences at the Bangkok hotel have everything a business traveler could want, including daily housekeeping, fully kitted kitchens with electric stoves and ovens, separate workspaces and smart TVs for after office hours. Private balconies for watching the sunrise and sunset make them feel like a home away from home, too.
  • The marble-clad bathrooms are stunning. Each comes with a built-in TV and bowl-shaped bathtub (with separate shower) overlooking the skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows.
