The Ranch at Rock Creek

A glamorous Montana ranch
VERIFIED LUXURY
Tucked amid meadows and tree-covered hilltops between the Pintler and Sapphire mountain ranges in Southwestern Montana, The Ranch at Rock Creek unites luxury with wide-open spaces.

At the center of the 6,600-acre ranch is Granite Lodge, a two-story stone and timber basecamp layered with elegant Western furnishings. Housing the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel's dining room, nine guest rooms (each with an iconic Western theme, such as Appaloosa or Winchester), The Spa at Rock Creek and a room with a massive hearth and game tables, the lodge is a great spot to play Scrabble or sip Missoula Mules after a day of trail riding or downhill skiing.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • You can spend days trail riding through meadows awash with purple lupine, fly-fishing for rainbow trout, hiking to snow-capped ridge tops in the Sapphire Mountains, or on pre-breakfast or after-dinner wildlife viewing excursions.
  • The Silver Dollar Saloon features an Old West theme, but offers modern entertainment for the kiddos including a four-lane bowling alley, karaoke and a 14-foot HD TV showing old Western films.
  • For those seeking a little relaxation, you can soak in the stunning scenery by the pool or indulge in a luxurious spa treatment.
  • Sports-minded travelers will enjoy the 3D archery course, hiking to Top of The World or shooting sporting clays.
  • The Ranch at Rock Creek offers an all-inclusive experience, so you won’t have to worry about carrying your wallet around with you during your adventures.
Things to Know
  • All rooms include a personal Ranch cruiser bike to make getting around the rustic property even easier.
  • If you need some time away from the little ones, Flint's Forest Rangers offers daily ranch-themed activities for children ages four to 12.
  • Outdoorsmen, rejoice: The 6,600-acre Montana ranch encompasses four miles along Rock Creek, a Blue Ribbon designated trout fishing area.
The Rooms
  • Appointed with custom-made furniture, woven textiles, frontier antiques and lavish linens, the Granite Lodge rooms find design inspiration in iconic western themes, like Winchester, Colt and Mustang.
  • No two rooms are alike, although most upper-level rooms offer views of the Rock Creek valley. Some rooms may be combined to form a two-bedroom family suite that includes twin beds and pull-outs.
  • Just downhill from the lodge across Rock Creek are classic log homes (a total of nine, each of which sleeps up to 10, dot the property) and canvas “glamping” tents.
  • Tucked beneath cottonwoods and aspens, these hidden accommodations are rustically furnished with a luxury twist, including wood floors, exquisite rugs, sumptuous linens and decadent bath products.
The Restaurants
  • The log walls, stone fireplace and gingham curtains in the dining room at The Ranch at Rock Creek’s Granite Lodge offer a relaxed yet elegant environment for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Choose to have a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice and Montana organic steel-cut oats topped with raisins, maple pecans and bananas before spending a day on the river.
  • At night, all activity centers around chef Zachary Ladwig’s dining room — a locavore’s paradise, where entrées like Montana elk, snowy white parsnips, buckwheat and cocoa jus are served by attentive servers.
  • A six-page wine list — with everything from a simple glass of Alois Lageder pinot grigio to an extravagant bottle of Domaine des Comtes Lafon Montrachet Grand Cru 200 for $2,400 — accompanies the dinner menu.
  • The Blue Canteen, a wood and canvas structure near the barn and “glamping” structures, provides a morning coffee bar and baked goods.
