Nobu Dubai

A Peruvian-Japanese favorite on Palm Jumeirah
VERIFIED LUXURY
Tucked on the 22nd floor of the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Atlantis, The Palm, Nobu Dubai continues to set the standard for contemporary Japanese Peruvian cuisine since it opened doors in 2008 in its former location at the resort’s The Avenues mall.

At the Dubai outpost of the reputed Nobu chain of restaurants — founded by visionary chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, alongside Hollywood legend Robert De Niro and film producer Meir Teper — expect elevated dishes crafted with precision and the finest ingredients, served in a setting that embodies the city’s love for fine dining. At the helm of the kitchen is executive chef Damien Duviau, whose career spans more than 20 years at kitchens all over the world, from France to Moscow.

The restaurant features a stylish bar, an intimate lounge, a main dining room, a 13-seat sushi bar, six private dining rooms and an expansive dining terrace with spectacular views of Palm Jumeirah, the gulf and the Dubai skyline.

With more than 50 restaurants around the world, the globally renowned Nobu brand is synonymous with excellence. An experience that’s as much about atmosphere as it is about exceptional food, the Dubai location is no exception.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Paying homage to the legend of the underwater city of Atlantis while embracing its location by the gulf, the restaurant’s sophisticated design — marked by the use of strong textures, hammered metals and weathered stones — creates the feeling of being submerged beneath a rolling ocean wave. Above the central bar, a captivating installation flows through the lounge toward the dining area and terrace, conjuring up a sense of grandeur. A table on the terrace promises breathtaking vistas of Palm Jumeirah in all of its magnificence, complete with a central trunk, fronds and crescent.
  • Recommended dishes include the lobster salad with spicy lemon dressing, caviar potato wasabi, gambero rosso (red prawn) sashimi, the signature black cod miso, wagyu dumplings, wagyu beef tacos, king crab umami karaage (deep fried), and umami Mediterranean sea bass.
  • Sushi lovers will be delighted with the extensive selection of maki, sashimi and nigiri featuring yellowtail, sea urchin, octopus, mackerel, squid, freshwater eel, Japanese red snapper and soft-shell crab. Signature sushi at Nobu Dubai include the Japanese beef truffle tarama (fish roe spread), unagi (eel) foie gras and sea bass ceviche.
  • Available from Friday to Sunday, the two-course lunch menu is an excellent choice for a weekend meal at Atlantis, The Palm. You’ll choose from a wide variety of popular dishes, including starters such as the salmon spicy miso taco, seafood ceviche and shrimp tempura, and mains like the roasted duck orange miso, wasabi pepper lamb chops, black cod miso and mushroom toban yaki (roasted on a ceramic plate).
  • Grab a seat at the Dubai restaurant’s stunning bar for a few pre-dinner drinks. Sip on inventive cocktails with Japanese-Peruvian flavors, inspired by the vibrant cities of New York and Tokyo, such as the watermelon-infused Shinjuku Gibson with Ketel One vodka and Mancino Bianco vermouth, and The Big Apple with Michter’s rye and refreshing green apple and yuzu.

Things to Know

  • To sample a curated selection of dishes, you can’t go wrong with the seven-course omakase (chef’s choice) tasting menus. Dishes change every two months to reflect the seasonality of ingredients. Expect creations like salmon nori taco with amazu tosazu sauce, bluefin tuna with Japanese tomato and Matsuhisa dressing, king crab with burnt leek miso, and persimmon goma (sesame) tart served with calamansi sorbet.
  • Guests are expected to dress stylishly for dinner, adhering to the Nobu Dubai’s smart-elegant dress code, which includes long trousers for gentlemen.
  • For a sophisticated cocktail on Palm Jumeirah, arrive in time for a Sundown Experience (5 p.m. onward) to admire the sunset from the bar lounge, alongside libations and bar bites.
  • The chic lounge and bar Nobu Privé is an intimate 43-seat space within the larger restaurant for dining and enjoying a cigar.
