The Cooper

Charleston’s first waterfront getaway
VERIFIED LUXURY
The Cooper made a splash on the hotel scene when it debuted in 2026 as the first property on Charleston’s harborfront. The 191-room retreat provides sweeping views of the Cooper River and Charleston Harbor, while remaining close to Rainbow Row, Waterfront Park and the City Market.

Residential-style interiors by Champalimaud Design and Atelier Kim embrace soft textures, warm wood finishes and uncluttered interiors that create a restful backdrop from which to admire waterfront views. A private marina with a fleet of luxury vessels, a harbor-facing infinity pool, a 7,000-square-foot spa and four dining venues further set the hotel apart from the other properties. The Cooper revels in its waterfront setting, offering expansive harbor views and resort-style amenities uncommon in the city center.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The Cooper’s private marina is a major draw. Charter the 43-foot Hinckley yacht Cooper I, or head out on custom BlackJack boats for fishing excursions or sunset cruises.
  • Reserved exclusively for hotel guests, the rooftop infinity pool overlooks Charleston Harbor. Surrounded by striped loungers, cabanas and Bar Marti, it is one of downtown's most scenic places to spend an afternoon.
  • Alongside seven treatment rooms and a hydrothermal circuit, the 7,000-square-foot spa specializes in advanced therapies such as red-light treatments, cryotherapy loungers and recovery-focused amenities.
  • Personal concierges can arrange biscuit-making classes with Callie's Hot Little Biscuits, guided shopping excursions, floral workshops and private harbor outings that connect guests with Charleston beyond the usual sightseeing.
  • The Crossing, a Mediterranean-Lowcountry restaurant led by chef Nick Dugan of Charleston favorite Sorelle, anchors a food-and-beverage lineup that also includes a marina café, pool bar and classic burger spot.

The Rooms

  • The 191 accommodations feature interiors by Champalimaud Design and Atelier Kim, blending pale oak floors, custom millwork and understated Lowcountry-inspired details with a soft, neutral palette.
  • Linen, woven flax and unpolished wood add to the upscale coastal theming. Sand-toned shiplap walls seamlessly tie the look together.
  • Floor-to-ceiling windows maximize natural light, while many rooms and suites overlook the Cooper River, Charleston Harbor or the city skyline.
  • Marble-clad bathrooms feature double vanities and walk-in rain showers backed by aqua-hued herringbone tile reminiscent of the waters just beyond your balcony. Plush Matouk towels and Gama Professional hair dryers are thoughtful touches.
  • Suites are extra spacious, with separate living and dining areas, and some have expansive waterfront terraces. The Presidential Suite ups the ante with direct access to the rooftop pool.
